Backyard chickens, honest homesteading, and farmstand essentials — built one season at a time.

Behind the Brand

nice to meet you

I’m not a farm girl — I’m becoming one.

I’m Stacey — a Black woman from the city who decided to build a small, intentional homestead anyway. Backyard chickens, a growing garden, an indoor plant jungle that’s completely out of control, and a home that’s slowly being renovated into something that actually works for the life I want.

I started Not a Farm Girl because I didn’t see many spaces that reflected this version of homesteading, small-scale, learning-forward, and built by someone who didn’t grow up doing any of this. I’m a bit of a girlie girl in a farmer’s world, and I’m here for it.

This is where I document the process honestly. The wins, the disasters, the chickens with attitudes, and the quiet rhythms that come with building something slowly. It’s part journal, part shop, and part ongoing experiment.

If you’re building something too, even if it’s small, even if you’re figuring it out as you go, you’re in exactly the right place.

Not A Farm Girl started as an idea:
You don’t need a full farm to build a grounded life. You can start where you are.

about my blog site

what you'll find here

Everything here is practical, useful, and built from real experience. I sell farmstand bundles and egg packaging for backyard chicken keepers, curate homestead finds I’d actually use myself, and share the honest, sometimes messy process of building a grounded life one season at a time.

Soft-boiled eggs and fried eggs for breakfast

If you’re building something too — even if it’s small — you’re in the right place.
